The Brisbane Sporting Car Club who run most of the rallying in South East Queensland has made a decision to pause all rallying for the immediate future.
With the first round of the Queensland Rally Championship scheduled for later this month and the short course series planned to start at the end of April, teams are now unsure when they will be back in the forest.
‘Along with community devastation, the rain event also devastated vast areas of forests in which the BSCC Ltd conducts its events,’ the statement read.
‘Late yesterday, the BSCC Ltd received an announcement that the resulting damage will prevent anyone entering the forests for a yet to be determined number of months.
‘In light of this announcement, the board of the BSCC Ltd has made the decision to pause the 2022 calendar until we can assess the opportunities to resume rally events.’
While the local Queensland rally events are not progressing, the planning is still taking place for the Australian Rally Championship round that is scheduled for July.
‘Round four of the ARC will have its planning continue and the same will apply for round three of the QRC, scheduled for September.
